Restylane | Juvederm | Belotero

Restylane, Juvederm, and Belotero are all hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. HA fillers are the most commonly used cosmetic filler for facial rejuvenation and volume restoration. HA is a substance naturally found in the body, particularly in the skin, joints, and connective tissues. Here’s a description of HA fillers:

  1. Composition: HA fillers are made of a gel-like substance composed of hyaluronic acid, a molecule that attracts and retains water. The HA used in fillers is derived from non-animal sources through a process of biofermentation, making it safe and compatible with the human body.

  2. Injectable Gel: HA fillers come in the form of an injectable gel. The gel consistency allows for easy injection into the skin to restore volume, smoothen wrinkles, and enhance facial contours.

  3. Volume Restoration: HA fillers are effective in restoring volume to areas of the face that have experienced volume loss over time. They can help plump up sunken cheeks, add fullness to the lips, and fill in deep lines and folds.

  4. Wrinkle Reduction: HA fillers are commonly used to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. By injecting the gel into targeted areas, such as the nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth) or marionette lines (lines from the corners of the mouth to the chin), the filler adds volume and smoothes out the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

  5. Longevity: The duration of HA fillers varies depending on factors such as the specific product used, the injection technique, and individual factors. Generally, the effects of HA fillers can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. Over time, the HA is naturally broken down and absorbed by the body.

  6. Customizable Treatment: HA fillers provide a customizable treatment approach. The healthcare professional can tailor the amount of filler injected, the specific areas addressed, and the desired outcome based on the individual’s goals and facial anatomy. This customization allows for natural-looking results that enhance the person’s unique features.

  7. Safety and Reversibility: HA fillers have a high safety profile. Since HA is a substance naturally present in the body, adverse reactions are rare. In case of dissatisfaction or complications, HA fillers can be partially or completely reversed using an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which breaks down the HA gel.
