What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?

Skin Care

Grab a kleenex. Make a xerox copy. Words like Kleenex and Xerox are both precise objects and representative of an entire category of objects. In this case facial tissues and photocopies.

Botox is the same. Botox Cosmetic is the originator product. Because of that it represents the entire category of injectable wrinkle relaxers. Botox cosmetic, Dysport, Daxify and Xeomin are all types of botox in that they are all botulinum toxins, manufactured by different companies, that work to relax facial muscles.  Why does this matter? Well, why do you choose to have this procedure? Its probably because you are seeking a certain look. Maybe to lift your brow or remove the “11s” Always remember, that getting that look is dependent on the skill of the injector and not the product. The product is only as good as the hands it is in.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox works on the principle of neuromuscular blockade, a process where the injected botulinum toxin type A stops the nerve signals that ordinarily instruct muscles to contract.

For example, by disrupting these signals around the eye area, it diminishes the muscular activity that contributes to the formation and permanence of crow’s feet.

The longevity of its effects is due to the temporary re-education of the muscles. They learn to contract less forcefully over time, which can lead to a sustained smoother appearance even as the initial effects wear off.
